Manchester City See Off Newcastle, Manchester United Lose at Spurs

Manchester City have continued their impressive start to the season with a comfortable 3-1 win over Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium. Goals from Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus sealed the victory for Pep Guardiolas side, who remain top of the Premier League table.

The hosts started brightly and took the lead in the 15th minute when Sterling fired home from close range after being found by Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian then turned provider again just before half-time as he set up Aguero to double Citys advantage.

Newcastle pulled one back shortly after the break through Salomon Rondon, but Jesus restored Citys two-goal cushion with a neat finish in the 65th minute. The result means that City have now won their last five league games and remain unbeaten in all competitions this season.

Meanwhile, across town at Wembley Stadium, Manchester United suffered a 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. Goals from Lucas Moura, Harry Kane and Son Heung-min sealed a comfortable victory for Spurs, who move up to third in the table as a result.

United had started brightly but were undone by two quickfire goals from Moura and Kane just before half-time. Son then added a third late on to seal an emphatic win for Mauricio Pochettinos side. The result leaves United languishing in tenth place in the table after eight games of the season.
