Utah Football Falls 21-7 At #19 Oregon State

The University of Utah football team suffered a tough loss on Saturday, falling 21-7 to the #19 Oregon State Beavers. The Utes had a chance to make a statement in their first road game of the season, but were unable to capitalize on their opportunities. The Utes were held to just seven points and only managed to gain 229 yards of total offense.

The Utes started off strong, taking an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter after quarterback Tyler Huntley connected with wide receiver Samson Nacua for a touchdown. However, the Beavers responded with two touchdowns in the second quarter and never looked back. Oregon State quarterback Jake Luton threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as the Beavers took control of the game.

The Utes struggled offensively throughout the game, as they were unable to establish any sort of rhythm or consistency. Huntley was held to just 11-of-25 passing for 109 yards and one touchdown, while running back Zack Moss was held to just 64 yards on 17 carries. The Utes also committed three turnovers in the game, which proved costly as they were unable to capitalize on their opportunities.

The defense played well for Utah, holding Oregon States offense in check throughout most of the game. The Utes forced two turnovers and held Luton to just 14-of-27 passing for 166 yards and two touchdowns. However, they were unable to get off the field when it mattered most as Oregon State was able to convert several key third downs late in the game that allowed them to run out the clock and secure the victory.

Overall, it was a disappointing performance from Utah as they failed to take advantage of their opportunities against a ranked opponent on the road. The Utes will look to bounce back next week when they host Idaho State at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
